WHAT CAN POLITICAL CONSTELLATIONS ACHIEVE?

The goal of political constellations is to transform conflicts. Political constellations do not instantaneously change reality or directly resolve conflicts. Although they work in step with actual practice, they do not incorporate concrete tools. Yet they divulge the opportunity to see difficult situations from a different perspective. Mitigating insights on the cause and effect of conflicts emerge from political constellations. This is a decisive step in the process of change.

Acknowledging what is
A central aspect of Systemic Counselling is the respectful acknowledgement of what is. This acceptance is a prerequisite for changing relationships between parties in conflict. The awareness, that aspects or persons which are perceived as disruptive or combative are justifiable elements of one’s own system, can result in clarity and ease tensions. It is our experience that clients are able to take a new stance, characterised by deeper understanding and an enhanced ability to disengage and forgive.

Clarifying one’s own role
The personal profit for our clients lies in the clarification of their own role. Through a constellation they understand better their own function in the system, are able to recognise interrelations and misunderstandings, and can more easily accept that which is irrevocable.

Taking action
Even when in constellations no strategy of action can be developed, they often have a definite impact on practical experience. The acknowledgement of the process, the experiencing and pin-pointing of resources and blockades reveals new options to the client. A transformed, unfettered course of action becomes possible. And the system as a whole profits from this.

Due to their unique value, political constellations are an appropriate, time-honoured method to enhance peace-making and/or conflict negotiations.
